Nancy Lee Marquis (that’s me) was born in 1950 in Schenectady, New York. Roberta Moore was born in 1943 and raised in the Army. They parented two children in Embudo, New Mexico. Roberta and Nancy Lee conceived their family as an idea when they first got together in 1978. It became a reality when Brian was born in 1985 and Robin in 1988. The rest of the story is (oral) history. Historian Andrea Friedman interviewed our family over some months in 2025. Each person shares their own perspectives on our family’s origin (using known donor home insemination), life in rural northern New Mexico, our challenges and joys, and formal cross adoptions in San Francisco in 1990.
