Robin was a radiologist in Santa Fe. We met her daughter Marilyn when she was a toddler at the home of a close mutual friend in Embudo, New Mexico, where we raised our children. She writes about their international adoption in 1990, the advantages and disadvantages of being a queer parent, and the ways in which her privilege as a doctor mitigated the stresses.

I was also able to interview her daughter Marilyn. She talked about having professional moms, all the folks who helped raise her, and her family’s shifting make up. Her brother by Robin’s second partner also has two gay dads.
