1880: Gustav Jäger: "Heterosexual"

Karl-Maria Kertbeny's word heterosexual was published for the first time, in Germany, in 1880, in a book titled Discovery of the Soul, by a zoologist, Gustav Jäger.

Earlier, Kertbeny had contributed a chapter to the book arguing for the decriminalization of homosexuality, but the book's publisher decided it was too controversial and omitted it. Nevertheless, Jäger used Kertbeny's terminology elsewhere in the book.[1]
