He is a man with light skin and combed back dark hair with a receding hairline. He looks directly into the camera with a slight smile. The text beneath his photograph reads, “José Julio Sarria, Candidate for Supervisor – City and County of San Francisco – November 7, 1961.” To the right of the photograph is text in black about the campaign. The text reads, “My Platform is Completely and Eloquently Engraved for All Time on the Facade of San Francisco’s New Hall of Justice – To the faithful and impartial enforcement of laws – With equal and exact justice to all – Of whatever state or persuasion – This building is dedicated by the people of the city and county of San Francisco.” The text preceding “Hall of Justice” is shown in a serif font; the text following it is shown in an all capital sans serif font.
