1960-05-28First National Convention of Daughter of Bilitis

The first national convention of the Daughters of Bilitis, a lesbian rights organization, opens in San Francisco. Two hundred women attend from around the United States, making it the largest public gathering of lesbians in the U.S. up until that point. The theme of the convention was “A Look at the Lesbian.”
